Fashion Wall Art
What is framed fashion art? To some it is a leopard print purse, to others it is a pair of overalls, and to others still it is a cowboy hat. What some call fashion other may find offensive or tacky; it is all in the eye of the viewer.
In other words an art lover in Texas might love “If Only They Could Talk” a picture of three pairs of cowboy boots by David R. Stoecklein; while an art lover in California may hate it.
Artist like Marty Lemessurier take Native American items and turn them into framed fashion artwork. Jennifer Matla and Todd Williams have taken something as simple as a high heel shoe and made it into works of art. Cat Bachman takes fashion and has some fun with it in works like “Half Moon Bay I”.
Something so simple like a pair of flip flops or a bikini; can become a fashion framed piece of art, when artists like Paul Brent and Michele Killman go to work with them their only model. Fashion art can give us a lesson in history with works like “Cabana Beach” by Paul Brent and “Vintage Lace” by Peggy Abrams. Fans of the 1980’s that loved the movie “Flash Dance” may remember the fashion statement of leg warmers and will appreciate the art of Harvey Edwards.
Fragrances are a big part of fashion and there are artists like Jill Ankrom, Banafshe Schippel, and Pamela Gladding are capitalizing on this fact. Fashion is an art all its own and the one that decides what is art is the lover of the arts.
