The Grand Canyon National Park was founded in 1919 so it will be celebrating one century of existence in a not so distant future. All those who are lucky enough as to visit this land are filled with awe and for this reason, President Theodore Roosevelt started the process of creating the national park. The moment also marked the beginning of the conservation movement and other national parks were established all over the country.

The entire national park has been included on the list of world heritage site by UNESCO, while the canyon itself is famous for brilliantly combining depths with exposed layers and its impressive size. It is well preserved and the only force acting against it is the Colorado River, which continues its relentless erosion, therefore constantly shaping the canyon.
