Framed Self Portraits
Great artists have always painted their own faces as a representation of personality and personal self-reflection. The representation of their own face or body in different situations clearly illustrated their drawing or painting skill and also showed their facial features clearly.
Self-portraits are often painted in a certain time of life of an artist. The history of framed self-portrait images goes from the long time in the past, but in the 15th century, artists started depicting themselves as the main artwork, or by putting themselves somewhere in the image. In Renaissance, when people started having more money and were more self-oriented, the need for portraits increased rapidly, which also led to artists presenting themselves in artwork as a sign of social status.
Some of the famous people that painted self-portraits, which became famous, include Frida Kahlo, Vincent Van Gogh and Leonardo da Vinci. Van Gogh painted a lot of self-portraits which depicted his emotional and physical state, and other artist, like Rembrandt van Rijn, painted series of self-portraits as his expression of creative work.
In present world, the technology changed self-portraits and continued that trend by people photographing and recording themselves. The self-portrait hasn’t lost its main purpose throughout time, which was expression of personal identity and creativity while presenting the portrayed person in a certain setting while showing different emotions.
If you want your home to be filled with energy of great painters that knew how to represent themselves through great works of art, then getting a framed self-portrait print will definitely awaken the artistic presence in your living space.
