Michael Kungl studied fine art and graphic design. He’s a dedicated lover of art deco - from its original period and its re-introduction in the 1950s. Kungl’s vintage style is filled with a stylish streamlined twist and a radiant color palette, having studied the great architects and graphic designers as well as the traditional artists of the 20th century that informed his own aesthetic. He’s is best known for his contemporary interpretations of nostalgic images. Kungl is not only dedicated to creative process but is also passionate about his painting, drawing inspiration from many different artists and places. There is no artist dead or alive that he hasn’t drawn inspiration from. He says that as artists, they all rely on one another to keep their industry alive. It's this passion that makes collectors and fans extremely loyal to Kungl’s work, at the same time constantly spurring him on in new directions. Kungl spent about twenty years creating award winning illustrations, package design and logos for companies such as Johnson & Johnson, Toshiba Nissan Motors and Panasonic; he later focused on fine art full time. The artist drew inspiration particularly from American industrial designers Henry Dreyfuss and Raymond Loewy, and A. M. Cassandre, a European graphic painter. Today, ready to hang framed Michael Kungl are much sought after and are highly priced by many collectors around the globe. In 2006, he was selected as an official artist of the Disney Fine Art program. This has helped him build a loyal following of fans who love his fresh take on Disney.
