Judy Stalus has flowers and gardens that are the basis for most of her current photography. She photographs flowers in the house, in the garden, from afar and very close and through every season. Judy began photographing in 1971 and her work has changed with her as my life has changed. She used to be a film photographer printing both black-and-white and color in her darkroom. But recently she was attracted by the magic of Photoshop and now she prints exclusively digitally. However, though she primarily shoots with digital camera, she still uses a few of her old film camera including a Holga, her Diana from the 1960s, and her Polaroid SX-70 Land camera. Judy lives on 50 acres of beautiful gardens, woodlands and fields in Walpole, New Hampshire. She enjoys living here with her husband and daughter. She grows hundreds of varieties but has a special love of iris, tulips, poppies and peonies. She has iris in bloom for many months from iris cristata of early spring and the tiny iris reticulata to the summer blooms of bearded, Japanese, Louisiana, and Siberian iris. Perennial poppies and voluptuous peonies are followed by tens of Icelandic and annual poppies. Her photos can be seen at HJM Art Gallery Blog, Simply Hue, Keene State College, mysticwynd.blogspot.com, brightboldbeautiful.blogspot.com, theprettybee.blogspot.com, Mill Pond Gallery, Vermont Center for Photography, Green Tree Gallery, Sharon Arts Center, Silverman Arts Center, Walpole Artisans Cooperative, and The Soho Gallery. Framed Judy Stalus art can be found all over the world.
