Framed Dark Color Paintings

Dark colors often bring with it dark art but, just like anything else there are exceptions. With framed dark color art one can find calm, relaxing, soothing, and gentle pieces as well as those with a dark air about them. There are some artists that aren’t in a dark place they just prefer to use darker colors to make their pieces. Many artists from the renaissance period used dark colors in their paintings.

Rembrandt van Rijn’s painting from 1632 titled “The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp is a good example of a dark painting that didn’t carry a dark message with it. “The Astronomer” by Johannes Vermeer in 1668 is another famous painting that relied on the darker colors. Leonardo Da Vinci also created framed dark color paintings during his time that are quite beautiful and still sought after by art lovers.
