Framed Japanese Fashion Prints
The kimono is usually the first thing that comes to someone’s mind when they are questioned about Japanese fashion. It is true that it might not be worn as much in these modern days but, that could never take away from the beauty of them. Artists have found many different ways to show off the kimono in framed Japanese fashion art.
Pat Woodworth has a lovely piece titled “Kimono I” in which only warm pastels are used which makes it a unique piece. Nancy Slocum has a series of four framed Japanese fashion art pictures that would make a lovely addition to any venue. Her use of regal colors such as black, gold, and red make these stand out.
Claude Monet in his time even did a piece portraying the beauty of Japanese fashion and his framed Japanese fashion art painting is titled “La Japonaise” and it is a magnificent piece of art. Utaguwa Hiroshige reminds the world that Japan also has a winter season and shows off the traditional Japanese winter fashion in his work “Women in the Snow at Fujisawa”.
Vanna Lam takes a softer and simpler approach in her works, using the kimono as a subject. Her pieces “Red Hooded Crane” and “Moonlit Hills” are very popular amongst lovers of Japanese fashion art. She uses lots of color, but, keeps the designs on her kimonos on the simpler side. Megan Meagher uses her talents to create a very interesting piece titled “Kimono Garden” that features lot of green and black colors.
