Pointillism Art
In 1886 the art format of pointillism was created by Georges Seurat and Paul Signac. The form of painting is simply the use of placing dots of color together to form an object; it was branched off of impressionism.
There are still many framed pointillism paintings that find themselves the center of decorating.
Georges Seurat is most likely the most recognized painter of this era and has many framed pointillism replicas available in the art market. Some of his works considered the best are; Eiffel Tower from 1889 and Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande from 1886. The Eiffel Tower is very distinct in the use of dots of color where as the Sunday Afternoon painting requires a deeper look to see the pointillism.
Paul Signac has two pieces of framed pointillism paintings that are simply divine. The use of pastel colors and the dots created something breathtaking. The two paintings are; The Pine Tree at St. Tropez done in 1909 and Antibes, the Pink Cloud done in 1916. Both pieces are still very liked and sought after.
Other artists that have made great contributions to the period of painting are; Camille Pissarro, Adriano Galasso, and Lowell Herrero. Each one of these artists brought their own unique way of creating pointillism to the art world and we still enjoy their work in these modern times. Pointillism also gives the art lover a variety of subject matters to choose from including the sea, people, architecture, and landscapes. Though the era may be past; the art lives on.
