Konstantin Korovin (Born in 1861) was born in Moscow in Russia. Being a colorist by nature, the artist made color the primary means of expression both in his easel painting and in his theatrical work. He once wrote that form and colors combine to give harmony of beauty. According to him colors can be a celebration for the eyes, and the eyes of the viewers speak to their soul of delight and joy... chords of colors, colors and forms—that is what he was trying to achieve in his stage-sets for the opera and ballet. In the town landscapes, one of his favorite themes was Paris. He was a painter who had several museum and gallery exhibitions, including at the National Gallery of Armenia and at the Erarta Museum of Contemporary Art. In 1885, he traveled to Spain and Paris which was a shock for him because in these places in the impressionists there he found everything he was scolded for back home in Moscow. There have been numerous articles about him that describe his outstanding works and many of his works have been sold at auction. From the beginning of the 20th century the artist focused his attention more on the theatre and this is where his passion shifted. His move from private opera of Mamontov to the public Mariinsky Theatre allowed him to work on a larger scale. Korovin’s designs modernized the art of theatrical adornment. Today, the framed Konstantin Korovin art hang on the walls of many buildings around the world.
